Transportation, Seasons, Winter, Houghton County Airport's new crash-fire rescue vehicle - one of two of its kind in North America - has been passing its test runs this week with flying colors. An all-terrain vehicle, it can ford a three-foot deep swamp, scurry up and down hills, over snow and across frozen ponds, as it did during a trial run. The turret nozzle mounted on top of the vehicle can be operated either from within the cab or from the roof of the vehicle. The second crash-fire rescue vehicle being checked out at the airport will be shipped to Delta County later this week. [The tank-like vehicle is pictured climbing up a snow bank.]
