Centennial is working with small force but I have just given orders to close down. Every mine in the district is closed. About seventy-five percent of the men in Calumet brance working. No 16 working but will undoubtedly have to close tonight. Have just had conference with heads of departments and have started swearing in deputies. Hope to have over five hundred deputies, possibly one thousand today. [Corrispondence between Quincy A. Shaw and James MacNaughton.]
