User Comments:
• The photographer, Frederick Fraley Sharpless was on the faculty of the School of Mines from 1888-1905 before moving out of state, so I think it is fair to assume the many photographs his family donated to the MTU archives are from this time period. Secondly I believe the man in this photo is George Adam Kopp Sr. (1838-1914) who worked in the Pewabic Dry in the mid 1890's. Besides the dates and location matching up for this to be George, the facial features of this man seem to match up pretty well with the one photo I have of George Kopp Sr.
