Description: A long line of men wait for the White Pine buses just outside the gate and time shed of the White Pine Copper Co. As quickly as possible, they board the buses and soon are on their way back to Calumet and Lake Linden via Ontonagon, Mass, Painesdale, South Range, Atlantic and Houghton and Hancock. White Pine employs slightly under 3,000 persons. The company is operated by the Copper Range Company which originally worked mines in the Painesdale - Atlantic region. Copper Range began its White Pine operations in 1953. [Workers with their lunch pails line up outside the building.]
