Here he is shown at his home in Redridge during the 1940's. [Earle spent 47 years in administrative work in the field of education. He passed away in 1976 at the age of 92.]

Snowfall

Persons, Seasons, Winter, Human Settlements, Cities and Towns These children live at Winona, in Houghton County, MI. Here they are waiting for the mail man or the newspaper tube route man. The enclosure was dug by the mail box owner to protect the children and himself from the high velocity winds, cold and traffic. Here the banks are 11 feet high. Winona is a former active copper mining community. [Four children huddle in the snow enclosure. The name "Keranen" is on the mail box.]

Biography - Carlos Haug

Carlos Haug, left, exhibits a ring that was awarded to the most famed hockey player ever to represent the Houghton-Calumet region, Dr. John A. Gibson, a member of the Portage Lake World Champions of 1914. With him is former Calumet resident, Alex Nelson, who formerly operated the Parkside Restaurant, one of the renowned eateries of the Calumbet region. Here they stand in front of the Gil-Mar Copper Shoppe, a dispenser of red metal souvenirs. [Carlos Haug was the owner of Haugs Jewelry Store, a downtown Houghton business for over 100 years]
