Biography - Hon. Carlos D. Shelden |

Son of Ransom Shelden, born June 10, 1840 in Walworth, WI. Served in the 23rd Infantry in 1862. After his military career, he engaged in mercantile, foundry and machine works interests. He served as President of Houghton for four years and was elected as a member of the Michigan House of Representatives. Organized the Superior Savings Bank in Hancock in 1890 and in 1896 the State Savings Bank of Laurium. He was Vice President of Peninsula Electric Light and Power and a director in various other corporations.
