Foreman Louis Salani of Cohodas-Paoli's warehouse in Houghton says this is the most unusual type of refrigerator car he has ever seen. One end features a diesel temperature maintaining unit which is supplied with fuel from the underpinnings of the car. Temperature was being maintained at 34 degrees according to the thermometer, steel enclosed on the side. Contents of the car were 650 crates of lettuce. The unit is jointly owned by Southern Pacific and Union Pacific. Salani is shown closing the door of the local diesel engine. Last night Houghton residents thought a Greyhound bus was warming up near Dee Stadium.
