Newest addition to the Greek letter fraternities on campus is Delta Sigma Phi, the first national social fraternity to come to Tech. Organized last October, the Delta Sigs while still a colony, aptly proved that they were going to be one of the active groups on campus when they took first prize in both Snow Statue and Float contest to sweep the Winter Carnival competitions. There appeared on Michigan Tech's campus within the past year a new service fraternity, Alpha Phi Omega. The Tech chapter, Epsilon Lambda, was formally installed at a banquet December 12, 1947. This national service fraternity is composed of college men who were or are affiliated with the Scouting movement. The Memorial Union Board is provided for by the Constitution of the Memorial Union Association. The Constitution was drawn up by a student and faculty group over a period of about three years, and was approved by the Board of Control of the College and the Student Council in the fall of 1952. The Board consists of twelve members, six of whom are students appointed by the Student Council; the balance is composed of a representative of the Alumni Foundation, a representative of the Alumni Association, the treasurer of the College, a member of the Board of Control, the Union manager, and a faculty representative.
