Fires - Bosch Brewery

Accidents, Fires, Buildings, Fire Department, Officials and Employees, Fire Fighters Firemen unraveled hose and pumped water from Portage Lake into the Bosch Brewery Monday morning at 10:15 a.m. as a fire there raged out of control. Early reports indicated that a spark from a cutting torch being used by salvage workers inside the brewery caused the blaze. Workers in the building were able to get out safely, reports indicated. Hancock, Houghton and Hurontown fire departments were summoned to the scene. Smoke from the fire hampered visibility along the Canal Road eastward a quarter of a mile. Flames rose from the top windows of the building along the Portage Lake side, the side the firemen worked from. [Fireman battle fire hoses and flames in this photo.]
