Campus Buildings - Memorial Union

Buildings, Persons, Education, Postsecondary Education, Education, Higher Six years ahead of its time that is the distinction that could be attributed to Michigan Tech Alumni, for, when the Memorial Union was constructed in 1951, above the entrance was inscribed "In God We Trust." That inscription has now been assigned to U.S. paper money. Before the present time it has appeared on coins. Now, it will be printed on the "greenbacks" as well. Incidentally a casual observation of the students emerging from the Union, reveals that the co-eds are increasing in numbers. [All of the ladies coming out of the building wear dresses.]

Logging Equipment

Manufacturing Process, , The old steam crane of the Ontonagon Fiber Mill got into action at the Lake Superior yards for the first time in about three years. Ontonagonites thrilled at the sound of the whistle which meant that happenings of yesteryear were in the offing once more. The mill, in the process of being adapted to the desires of its new owners, the Huss-Ontonagon Co. had a fair force employed, yesterday. Most were working within the mill. The crane was employed in the log stacking yard where a bucket loader was also engaged in relieving the area of its low and scattered timber. Operating the machinery were Walter Myhren and John Engberg. [Photo of a smoking relic of a steam crane in action.]
