• Two members of my family died in the sink of the Maplehurst. Adrien (17 years old) and Charlemagne (19 years old) Pilon. I saw a note in the church book "died the same in th sink of Maplehurst at the Superior Lake december 1st 1922".

Portage Coast Guard made rescue of 9 crew members who would jump.. 11 did not jump into the lifeboat and died.
