Description: The Michigan Tech Mont Ripley ski area belies its name when seen as above. Taken within the past few days, the photo shows snowless terrain. But it also shows what has been done to the bowl area recently. Virtually all trees have been removed from the depression and the gradual ascent for the skiers under the gentle pull of the tow rope has been deepened and more throughly graded. Atop the hill is an engine house which aids in pulling the skier to the top of the Quincy Range. A portion of the ramp scaffold may be seen at right. It is used for jumping events. This year the area will have four tows in operation. A fifth tow's machinery is on the grounds and may be installed if necessary. [View of Mont Ripley from a different perspective.]
