Redridge in 1912. Population was 1,100 with 900 in the town and 200 along the lake shore communities. This town wanted to incorporate as a village in 1916, but when the mining companies threatened to double the rent per month from $1/room to $2/room of each house, the plan was dropped. It had 170 children as students in the school from grades K-8. It had a large general store, a candy store, a barber shop, two boarding houses and three band organizations.
