Portage Lake Golf Course. First golf club. Photograph taken in the 1910 to 1915 era at the Portage Lake Golf Club, the first club organized in the Upper Peninsula in 1902 and incorporated in 1904. Harry Flora was the golf professional at the club and branded his name on many clubs he handled, some of them still in the possesion of area golfers. Transportation to the course was by these various makes of autos including the Model T Ford at right.

Mont Ripley Skiers - This is just part of the delegation using the Michigan Tech ski facilities in Ripley Saturday and Sunday. The group represents the Vagabound Ski Club of Milwaukee. Porcupine Mountain Ski Resort |

A dozen or more buses frequent the Porcupine Mountain ski area during a weekend. Here a Stockley bus out of Rhinelander, WI rests on the lower parking area while its passengers ski in the Michigan State Park. Ahead of the Rhinelander bus is a Greyhound bus. This track team, representing the grade schools of Keweenaw are about to board a Mohawk school bus for Calumet to compete in a recent triangular meet with the Calumet and Laurium grade schools. Keweenaw amassed a total of 59 1 6 points. Calumet 25 5/6 and Laurium 23.
