The unit at left provided the power and guidance for the wheels, which were scaled to one-fourth size. Some of the tires in the experiments have a tread four feet wide.

Float Copper

Seasons, Winter, Street Cleaning, Snow Removal, Native float copper. This huge float copper was found 4 miles west of Calumet, Michigan - weight 9,392 pounds and was donated to Coppertown by the Lizzardo Museum of Elmhurst, Illinois.

Record Snowfall Sign

Seasons, Winter, Sign and Signboards, Historical markers, New Snowfall Record 294.5 In. On March 29, 1965 the Copper Country achieved a new snowfall record near this location by recording 284.6 in. of snow. The original record of 282.2 seasonal inches was tabulated in the winter of 1949-50 at the Houghton County memorial airport. The last snowfall in 1950 came on May 3rd. The following is a monthly tabulation of snow for the winter of 1964-65, Oct. 3.8 in., Nov. 41.0 in., Dec. 100.6 in., Jan., 52.8 in., Feb. 41.9 in., Mar. 39.0 in., Apr. 5.4 in. to total 294.5 inches.
