Winter Carnival- Blue Key Fraternity |

Members of the Blue Key Fraternity on the Michigan Tech campus. Blue Key, a national honorary service fraternity, allows only thirty-five members in its chapters. These students must be juniors or seniors and in the upper one-half of their class before they can be nominated and voted into membership. Winter Carnival at the Michigan Tech campus is the most difficult task undertaken by any of the 100 Blue Key chapters in the United States. Tech's chapter includes eight faculty members. Winter Carnival was started in 1922 as a one-day affair. Blue Key has taken it a long way since that day thirty-seven years ago. Winter Carnival would not be complete without a queen to reign over its activities. Lovely Lee Schirmer, as 1959 Carnival Queen, did her job with an air of perfection. Lee is the daughter of Tech's Air Force R.O.T.C. Colonel. she is a true southern belle from Texas, complete with southern accent.
