Copper Country - Strikes

Labor Movements, Labor Unions, Persons, Buildings, Commercial Buildings, Stores, Retail Employees of Retail Store Employees Union Local 214 AFL-CIO, are picketing Fraki's Markets of Ontonagon, L'Anse and Calumet after five months of fruitless bargaining, workers said. Employees chose the union as their collective bargaining representative in December 1971. Contract issues are a Union shop, union pension and union health and welfare for workers and families. [Some of the employees picket in front of Fraki's store.]

Copper Country - Strikes

Labor Movements, Labor Unions, Persons, Buildings, Commercial Buildings Strikers continue to picket the Upper Peninsula Power Company offices on Sixth Street in Calumet as the work stoppage by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Locals 510 and 979, moves into its third day. The contract expired Saturday at midnight; negotiations broke off at that time. There are now picketers on both of Calumet's main downtown streets. [Union workers picket the UPPCO offices.]
