Portage Lake Golf Course

Manners and Customs, Recreation, Sports, Ball Games, Golf, Persons, Transportation, Automotive Portage Lake Golf Course. First golf club. Photograph taken in the 1910 to 1915 era at the Portage Lake Golf Club, the first club organized in the Upper Peninsula in 1902 and incorporated in 1904. Harry Flora was the golf professional at the club and branded his name on many clubs he handled, some of them still in the possesion of area golfers. Transportation to the course was by these various makes of autos including the Model T Ford at right.
